Good data leads to good decisions, whether you are planning a city budget or writing a grant for a non-profit. That's a big reason why we launched South Dakota Dashboard, a one-stop shop with current, interactive, reliable data on a range of topics.
Please take a few minutes to check out the website, which features six main topic areas, each with two to four key indicators and an overview section.
With the state of South Dakota as our geographic focus, we aggregate data at a multitude of levels including metropolitan/micropolitan regions, counties, cities, and American Indian reservations. Our data comes from many federal and state sources and is available in easy-to-use charts, graphs, and maps. We collect and manage this data with help from our partners at the Data Center at South Dakota State University, the Bush Foundation, and Wilder Research.
We aren't done growing.
Between now and the end of the year, we will be adding content to the site, providing detailed links to other data partners in the state and throughout the nation, and soliciting feedback from South Dakotans who will use the site. We will be working to build additional partnerships that will allow us to expand the data available on the site. If there's data you would like to see in this format but is not yet on the South Dakota Dashboard, please contact us at [email protected].
In January, with a grant from the South Dakota Community Foundation, we will partner with South Dakota Public Broadcasting to spread the word about this terrific new resource.
